Our Nursing Service Learning course 609.001 will be working locally on improving migrant Latino health and also in Nicaragua over spring break (March 11-21). In Nicaragua we will be doing children health screenings at Casa Bernabe Orphanage along with outreaches to poor under resourced clinics such as the Clinica Neuva Vida that provides health care to families www.jhc-cdca.org. We are asking for donations of large bottles of prenatal vitamins, children’s vitamins, Tylenol, ibuprofen, tums, antifungal ointment and new or used children’s school book bags.

Collection box sites = Association of Nursing Students will have a box with a sign in the lobby of Old Carrington. Boxes are also at Jean Davison’s office (room 535) and a box in the Office of Academic Affairs.

Project Connect is a one-day, one-stop center that connects people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness with a broad range of short and long-term services. These include housing, employment, health and dental care, mental health care, veterans’ and social service benefits, legal services, and more. Health care volunteers are needed with set up at 8:00am, services to homeless 9:00am to 3:00pm. You can volunteer all day or in shifts (8- noon) (11:30 to 3:30)
